Spike didn’t become Spike. Spike was born Spike. When Spike wakes up in the morning, he’s Spike. His alter ego is Lady Gaga. His outfit with the big red “S”, that’s the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the DMOB found him. Those are his clothes. What Spike wears – the glasses, the business suit – that’s the costume. That’s the costume Spike wears to blend in with us. Lady Gaga is how Spike views us. And what are the characteristics of Lady Gaga. She’s artistic, creative… she’s sure of herself… she’s a hero. Lady Gaga is Spike’s critique on the whole canine race.
